Devonport Municipality

Devonport - "The Gateway to Tasmania" is located on the North West Coast with a population of approx 25,000.  The Mersey River divides East & West Devonport and is home to the passenger & vehicle ferries Spirit of Tasmania 1 & 2 which run daily between Melbourne & Devonport.  The Devonport CBD is situated less than a 5 minute drive from the ferry terminal and approx 15 minutes from the airport with daily flights directly to Melbourne.  Devonport has a stable workforce incorporating industries  such as construction, manufactuing, agriculture, fishing, transport & storage, wholesale & retails trading, finance, recreation etc.  There are many cafes & restaurants catering to a variety of tastes and a diverse range of retail stores.  A walking/cycling track can be found near the CBD which makes its way along the Mersey River, past beaches, the Don College & on to the Olympic Pool.

Spreyton is approx 6km from the Devonport CBD and is a growing residential area with new subdivisions together with established neighbourhoods.  It is also home to the Devonport Golf Club and a prime area for apple and cherry orchards.

Latrobe Municipality

Latrobe is only a 10 minute drive from Devonport.  This historic village is known as the "Platypus Capital of the World" and the patient are almost guaranteed to spot one in the Mersey River either at Bell's Parade or the peaceful Warrawee Reserve.  The town is renown for numerous antique stores, old buildings, the Anvers Chocolate factory and the Axeman's Hall of Fame.

Port Sorell, Shearwater & Hawley are approx 19km east of Devonport which takes about a 20 minute drive.  These coastal townships are popular with those seeking a relaxed lifestyle with beautiful beaches while only being a short scenic drive to all the amenities the city has to offer.  Many are discovering the magic of living in such picturesque surroundings.

Kentish Municipality

Sheffield - "The Town of Murals" is about 20-25 minutes drive inland from Devonport.  Nestled in the foothills of Mount Roland this quiet town's claim to fame are the murals on shop fronts and buildings depicting the way life used to be.  Surrounding areas are quaintly named No Where Else, Paradise and Promised Land - the latter is home to "Tasmazia and the Village of Lower Crackpot" which is the world's largest maze complex and a lavender farm and village in miniture.

Railton - "The Town of Topiary" is around 20 minutes drive from Devonport with opportunities for fishing, walking, BBQ's and along its streets you will find living topairies (sculptured plants).

Wilmot is approx 40 minutes drive from Devonport through the Forth Valley.  Along the way you pass through the quirky letterbox trail where the locals have been creative - you'll see everything from a cow to a car engine!  Wilmot is also home to the original Coles store which can be found opposite the Community Museum.
